Alert sounds

Hear a sale, a signup or a new message.

Browser alerts play a sound when someone lands on your website, completes a goal, pays or writes in the chat, while the website's dashboard is open in a tab, even in the background.

Pick what you want to hear.

Each alert is one thing to listen for and the sound it plays. Add as many as you need, up to 30, and switch each on or off.

Sounds of your own.

Ten built-in sounds, from Pop and Chime to Cash register and Level up, made in the browser. Or upload up to 10 of your own per website: MP3, WAV, OGG or M4A, up to 1 MB and 10 seconds each.

  • A play button tries each sound before you choose it
  • One volume for all of the website's alerts
  • Rename or delete your own sounds; alerts that used a deleted one go back to a built-in sound

Quiet when you need it.

  • Mute on this device silences every website's sounds in that browser, and nobody else's
  • A conversation you muted in the Inbox makes no sound
  • Two events of the same kind within 0.7 seconds play one sound, not two
  • Switching browser alerts off keeps your alerts for when you turn them back on

Set it up.

  1. Switch them on

In Settings → Alerts → Browser alerts.

  2. Add an alert

Click New Alert, choose what it listens for and its sound, and name it if you like.

  3. Open the dashboard

Keep the website's dashboard open in a tab and click the page once, so the browser allows sound.

How it works, in detail.

The docs page “See visitors in real time” goes through it step by step.

How it works

Limits worth knowing

  • Sounds play only while the website's main dashboard is open in a tab; other pages, such as the Inbox, show new chat messages in the unread count instead
  • Browsers play sound only after you've clicked the page once
  • Alerts are set per website, and public dashboards don't play them
  • With no tab open, nothing plays: connect Telegram under Account → Notifications to get chat messages there, or use goal alerts by email

Questions, answered.

What can play a sound?

A new visit, a completed goal, a payment or a chat message from a visitor, each with the sound you choose.

Can I use my own sounds?

Yes. Upload up to 10 per website, as MP3, WAV, OGG or M4A, each up to 1 MB and 10 seconds long.

Do sounds play in a background tab?

Yes, as long as the website's dashboard is open in that tab and you've clicked the page once since it loaded.

How do I silence sounds on one computer?

Turn on Mute on this device under Settings → Alerts → Browser alerts. It mutes that browser only.

Can I have a different sound for each goal?

Yes. Add an alert per goal by name; it plays before an alert for your #1 KPI goal or any goal.
