Session recordings
Watch how people actually use your pages.
A recording plays a visit back: the pages someone saw, where they moved the mouse, what they clicked and how far they scrolled. Recordings are on from the start, and what people type is always hidden.

Find the visits worth watching.
The Recordings page lists the period's recordings, newest first: the visitor (their face, and their name or email once you identify them), their country, device and browser, when, the page they started on, their tags, the length and the number of clicks.
- Narrow the list to recordings that visited a page, lasted at least 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute or 5 minutes, have a tag, or came from desktop, tablet or mobile
- A visitor's profile has a Recordings button for theirs
- The player skips idle time and plays at 1, 2, 4 or 8 times the speed
- Beside it, the visit's details (when, browser, operating system and window size, where they were and came from) and its pages, goals, outbound clicks and tagged moments: click one to jump there
Tagged for you, grouped to show patterns.
- Problems tagged
- Rage clicks, dead clicks, JavaScript errors, slow pages (over 3 seconds), long idle stretches and forms left unsent are tagged as they happen, and marked on the player's progress bar.
- Outcomes tagged
- The goals a visit completed, and whether it paid, show on its recording too.
- Your own tags
- Add tags of your own, each in one of eight colours, and filter or group by them.
- Group the list
- By entry or last page (with a thumbnail of the page), visitor, country, device, source, campaign, time of day, length, tag and more, with each group's average length and problems.
What visitors type is never read: a form left unsent only notes that something was typed. An error keeps its message's first 200 characters and the script's file name, never the stack.
Private by default.
- Typed text hidden
- Everything typed into a form, passwords included, is replaced with asterisks in the browser, before anything is sent.
- All text, if you need it
- Set Hide text to All text for pages that can show personal details.
- Leave things out
- Add
supr-maskto hide an element's text orsupr-blockto leave it out, or list up to 20 CSS selectors that are never captured. - Pages never recorded
- Up to 50 paths, with
*as a wildcard, like/account/*.
Canvases, embedded frames from other websites and scripts are never recorded, and images aren't copied: they load from your website when you watch. Nothing is recorded for bots, for excluded visits or in attack mode.
How many, and for how long.
- Unlimited
- No monthly limit on how many visits are recorded, on every plan, across all the websites you own. See pricing.
- Choose the share
- Record every visit, or 50, 25, 10, 5 or 1% of them. Each visit is recorded from its first page to its last, or not at all.
- Kept 60 days
- Then removed automatically, on every plan. One recording is up to 2 hours long.
- Not events
- Recordings don't count toward your monthly events, and neither do heatmaps.
Set it up.
Nothing to set up
Recordings are on for every website and the script loads the recorder by itself. Switch them off in a website's Settings → Recordings.
Choose what to record
Pick the share of visits, what text to hide, and any elements or pages to leave out.
Watch
Recordings start with the next visits. Open Recordings in the website's sidebar.
How it works, in detail.
The docs page “Watch session recordings” goes through it step by step.
Limits worth knowing
- On for every website until you switch them off
- Kept for 60 days on every plan
- Tags point at errors and slow pages in recordings; they aren't error tracking or performance monitoring
- Not on public dashboards or in the All websites view
- Browsers too old to compress what they send aren't recorded
